Increasing Content Reuse and User Engagement Across Open edX

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Open edX has CC licenses enabled for its content and many instructors and institutions are now sharing courses with the intent for others to adapt and build on them for different contexts. How can we effectively increase reuse of OER on the edX platform and across its various instantiations through new tools or features that invite contribution and reuse through gratitude and related social expressions?

CC will present examples of communities of practice in other domains, and pose the following questions for discussion and brainstorm:

  1. How can we clarify the intent of each content contributor around sharing so that users are aware of the remixability of this content?

  2. How can we encourage reuse of this content by users on and off the platform?

  3. How can we build in spaces where users can then reshare their own  contributions and adaptations of the content they are using?

  4. How can we effectively creating a culture of sharing and remix across Open edX platforms through new social or gratitude features, growing community around the growing commons of CC-licensed OER?

  5. Lastly, how can we build in analytics from the start to measure how and why users are sharing OER, and what incentivizes contributions and reuse?
